Silverlight and SharePoint are two up and coming technologies in the development world. SharePoint developers can create robust applications with a variety of tools, such as web parts, user controls, and workflows. Silverlight Developers can create aesthetically pleasing interfaces by harnassing the power of Expression Blend. In this session we will discuss how to blend together SharePoint and Silverlight. We will create some basic Silverlight Applications and discuss what changes a SharePoint Server needs before a Silverlight Application is viewable in a SharePoint Site Collection. We will also discuss a search integration solution using Silverlight as the front end.

This session will be a survey of the different ways to bring Business Intelligence into a SharePoint site. We'll only be looking at solutions that are OOB - Out Of the Box - from Microsoft. We'll start from the least expensive, works on all SharePoint technologies, up to those that require MOSS Enterprise, and will include Calculated columns with embedded HTML, SharePoint Designer Data View Web Parts, SQL Server Reporting Services, Key Performance Indicators, Excel Services and Performance Point Services.

From daily builds to continuous integration, the benefits have never been in dispute, but many have felt that SharePoint has too many complexities to be supported in a build environment. In this session we’ll see how with the use of msbuild, subversion, and custom build tasks we can make the process of compiling, solution packaging, testing, and deployment very straightforward.

With the new version of SharePoint and InfoPath being officially released last year the concept of building and using e-forms in the enterprise has officially become a reality by using InfoPath 2007, InfoPath Forms Services and SharePoint 2007 Enterprise. This presentation will describe how to use InfoPath 2007 and InfoPath Forms Services (part of SharePoint 2007 Enterprise) to accomplish this with your existing or new SharePoint 2007 Enterprise installation. A demo will be given to show how to build and publish an InfoPath 2007 form to InfoPath Forms Services and how to active the forms from InfoPath Forms Services to a Site Collection.

Have you ever wanted to use Forms Authentication in SharePoint but you avoided it because of the complexity of configuration or you were concerned about any gotchas? If so then you'll want to check out this month's meeting were we'll be discussing the role of Forms Based Authentication (FBA) within SharePoint. We'll cover some considerations that need to be made when implementing FBA, we'll do a complete walkthrough of configuration FBA within a SharePoint environment, and we'll cover the development of custom login and registration forms. Finally we'll discuss some aspects of managing profiles within WSS and MOSS when implementing FBA.

This is the formal kick-off meeting of TRINUG's SharePoint Special Focus Group. In this monthly special focus group we will be emphasizing the developer aspects of SharePoint but any and all topics in SharePoint and related technologies will be fair game. This will be a very interactive and social event. Bring your ideas, thoughts, questions along with you. This is open to all who have an interest in learning more about SharePoint whether you've been working with it for years, just got it thrown on your lap, or you're just curious about what the buzz is all about. In this first session we're going to be covering the basics of Features. Features, although poorly named, are one of the basic building blocks of SharePoint and are essential for provisioning functionality in your site. Without a solid understanding of Features you'll never move past SharePoint Designer for developing robust, reusable, and arguably more interesting SharePoint components. I would like to give a special thanks out to Mark Weinburg over at Tek Systems for providing the facilities for this event. Because of the level of interest that has been expressed in the last few months we will be requiring registration for this first event to make sure we don't go over capacity.
